Marvel Pass

We began our wedding adventure by flying into Marvel Pass where we spent an hour enjoying the solitude and breath-taking scenery. Marvel Pass is situated on the southwest border of Banff National Park.
Lessons learned: (1) bug spray is a must when you’re deep in the wilderness (thank you to our pilot for coming prepared), (2) if you hike in tulle, half your time will be spent untangling from sticks, rocks, trees, etc. (but so worth it!)

Sunrise at Moraine Lake

Our wedding day began at sunrise with a hike up the Moraine Lake Rockpile. It had rained all night, but we had a window of calm to enjoy the alpenglow. The weather deteriorated as we were preparing to leave, just in time to celebrate rain on our wedding day and retreat to the warm hotel.

Hiking boots were a must on the wet rocks. We think they really compliment our suit and dress 🙂 We changed back into our usual shoes once we were off the rockpile.
Alison anticipated that it might be cold at 6 am and (wisely) brought a camping blanket. Emily monopolized the blanket, especially when the wind and rain picked up.

Getting Ready

4:30 am is an early start, so upon returning to the hotel we had our priorities straight: first, naps for everyone. Second, get ready for a wedding!

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, a sixpence in your shoe.

Our Ceremony
Time for a wedding! We got married at 2 pm on August 2, 2022. Doug walked Emily down the “aisle” (such as it was with only 6 guests 🙂 ). Our ceremony was full of personal anecdotes, some funny and some sweet. We spent the ceremony laughing and crying, reminiscing about our adventures so far and looking forward to a beautiful life together. It was the perfect celebration of our love.

For the very first time as husband and wife, Ray and Emily!

Lake Louise Gondola

The adventure continues! After our ceremony, we piled into our rental cars and headed to the Lake Louise Ski Resort and Gondola. What better way to get stunning mountain vistas without actually needing to hike in our dresses and suits? In the distance, you can see Lake Louise where we got married.

On to the Next Adventure

And we’re off! We can’t wait to see what the future holds and share our love and journey with each of you along the way. Thank you for being part of our lives and helping us become the people we are today. We’d like to close with the concluding remarks from our ceremony.
Laugh at your partner, laugh at yourself. Laugh at the things that divide you and at the ideas that bring you together. Laugh at the absurdity of struggle—and laugh when you reach the mountain top, with a bright future and the whole wide world at your feet.
All our love,
Emily and Raymon
